Litigation Section Thanks Judge Toomey for Her Years of Service

After serving for nearly eight years as a District Court Judge in the Third District Court, Judge Toomey recently took her oath to serve as the newest member of the Utah Court of Appeals in September 2014. We wish Judge Toomey all the best as she serves in her new capacity. Because of her new role on the Utah Court of Appeals, Judge Toomey has tendered her resignation from the section's Executive Committee.

During the past several years, Judge Toomey has served well as a member of the Litigation Section Executive Committee. She provided excellent insight into the challenges faced by the courts, and the Litigation Section has tried to meet those challenges by providing support for the Modest Means and Guardian Ad Litem programs with training and publicity. Judge Toomey has also supported the continuation of the Litigation Section's efforts to provide Bench Books for its members on the Litigation Section website, which provide Utah attorneys valuable insight into a judge's "dos and don'ts." We were thankful to have some help "on the inside" to assist with the Bench Books.

The Litigation Section greatly values the thoughtful insight Judge Toomey provided during her years of service on the Litigation Section Executive Committee. We will miss her counsel and diligent service. We wish her well as she continues to serve our legal community.
